Important Update: Canada Post Strike & Red Roots Mail Orders
Dear Red Roots Community,
We want to be open and candid with you about the current situation. As of September 25, 2025, Canada Post mail delivery has been suspended due to further strike action by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW). During this disruption, Canada Post has confirmed that no new mail or parcels will be accepted, and all service guarantees on items already in the system have been suspended. Simply put, nothing will be processed or delivered until the strike ends.
This labour action follows years of unresolved negotiations and a long history of disputes between Canada Post and CUPW. The most recent strike in late 2024 lasted for 32 days and required federal intervention to bring workers back. Even then, tensions remained, and by September 2025, CUPW once again exercised its legal right to strike. While this is a labour dispute over fair working conditions and pay, it is also a disruption that has very real consequences for Canadians.
Here at Red Roots Trading Company, we take our responsibility to our customers seriously. To ensure that your orders continue to reach you in a timely manner, we will be fulfilling all mail orders using alternate parcel carriers throughout this Canada Post shutdown. We want to assure you that while this strike impacts the entire country, your orders with Red Roots will continue to move safely and reliably.
But it’s important to acknowledge something larger: Canada Post is not just another delivery company. For many Canadians, especially in remote communities, it is the only delivery company. Entire communities across the North, including Inuit Nunangat, rely on Canada Post as a lifeline for medications, baby formula, diapers, and other essential goods. Many of these remote places have just one or two stores, and no other carrier delivers there. This strike doesn’t just delay packages, it disrupts the daily lives of tens of thousands of people, including elders, children, and families who depend on the mail for health, survival, and livelihood. Inuit craftspeople, for example, rely on the mail to get their work to buyers, and now they face another obstacle to sustaining their communities.
While we at Red Roots can find alternatives to keep your orders moving, we cannot ignore the reality that many Canadians do not have that option. This strike highlights the fragility of access in remote regions and the broader impact of labour disputes on communities that cannot simply turn to another provider.
We thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these circumstances. We’ll keep you updated on any changes, and as always, we’re here to support you.
With respect,
The Red Roots Trading Co. Team
